VETERAN AFFAIRS SAGA – ITS A TRUE EMBARASSMENT

Click on this LINK to see how this and previous governments have treated our veterans. It’s a joke, and they should be embarrassed. If I hear another politician thank me for my service – I will again cringe in disbelief. What the hell do they know about SERVICE? THIS IS A JOKE, AND THEY SHOULD BE EMBARASSED.

  • To Remind. Two weeks prior to the October 2023 general election, National stated.

    Quote.
The commitment and sacrifices made by New Zealand’s brave servicemen and women deserve not just gratitude but tangible support. Sadly, many veterans feel undervalued and overlooked. National is committed to honouring the sacrifice and service of veterans while ensuring they receive the care, recognition, and support they deserve.

    National will:
Honour the commitment and sacrifice of New Zealand’s veterans and ensure they get the timely support they need.
    Unquote.

Given the plight of military veteran Rob Smith and his wife Janice, who served New Zealand proud over the best and finest part of their lives, not receiving appropriate veteran assistance and support when they desperately need it is beyond the pale. For successive governments over many years to state that they will support each and every military veteran in their time[s] of need is just bilge water!

Mururoa Veterans finally received recognition last week for Genetic Testing or our children from the Minister of Veterans Affairs, Chris Penk. When advised by Mururoa Vets Assn I downloaded application and policy paperwork. Sent off to my off spring for perusal and what they wanted to do.
Reading the Application (VA69) it has no physical or email address where to send it…Go figure.
An inquiry from the UK on behalf of one of my sons, asked What is it we are testing for? As there is nothing in the Policy (9 pages) as to whether they testing for blood, soft tissue, physical impairment, deformities and the breakdown of DNA damage that can cause reproduction problems etc.
Once again Veterans Affairs struggling to comprehend the veterans serious concerns for them and their families.
I am on my 5th case manager.
We do deserve better than this and entirely agree with you Neil.
They still dragging their feet on the Wira Gardiner decision…Sounds like the Post Office debacle in the UK.
