Update on Chief Radio Supervisor James Frank Blackburn
Many members will be saddened to learn that Chief Petty Officer Radio Supervisor James Frank Blackburn, our Patron is not travelling too well at present.
After some 99 years of living at home, Jim has recently moved from Glenfield to a 24-hour care facility where he is receiving the support and assistance he now requires. While the transition has been a significant one, Jim remains in good heart and continues to display the resilience and determination that have characterised him throughout his life.
As would be expected, the challenges of advancing years are making the going a little tough, but Jim is fortunate to be surrounded by the love and support of his family and a close circle of friends who continue to visit and care for him.
Jim has been a highly respected member of the communications fraternity for many years, and many will have fond memories of his service, leadership, friendship, and contribution to the naval communications community.
We know that members will join us in wishing Jim comfort, strength, and good spirits as he settles into his new surroundings. We also extend our sincere appreciation to his family and friends for the support they continue to provide.
Our thoughts are with Jim, and we will endeavour to keep members informed of any significant developments.
