  • Frank Saunders served with distinction in the Royal New Zealand Navy and, because of his intellect and innate common sense, rose quickly to the rank of Chief Petty Officer Yeoman of Signals.   After earning his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Frank brought his talents to the New Zealand Police and the New Zealand Customs Service, impacting many lives along the way.   At the RNZN Communications Training School, we worked together as senior instructors, sharing memorable experiences both within and occasionally beyond our official responsibilities. Indeed, thorny problems that needed thorough analysis were always resolved at the Masonic War Office on King Edward Parade, Devonport.
Known for his boundless, engaging spirit and inspiring leadership, Frank was not only a leader but also a cherished, reliable friend.   Though he has set sail on his final voyage, Frank’s legacy will remain.  Rest in peace, dear friend; your work on Mother Earth is complete.   Your shipmates are now waiting to ‘PIPE’ you on board with full ceremonial honours.   The BLUE PETER is ‘close up’ and with the love of ANGE indelibly inscribed in your heart, may your heavenly forever journey bring you peace, fair winds, and calm seas.
