HAZELDINE, Arthur Herbert (Bill) NZ13417 RNZN Korea 1950 -1953. Joined as BOY 9/50 Died peacefully at Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth, in his 90th year, on Wednesday, 27th March, 2024. Father and father-in-law of the late Ian, Barry and Wendy, Shona and Marty, Brett and Stacey. Grandfather to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. All messages to Shona, 156 Ohangai Road, RD15 Normanby 4675. In accordance with Arthur’s wishes, a private cremation has been held and a private gathering with family and friends has been arranged.
MURPHY, Robert Walter (Bob). RNZN WO L15512 Joined as an ArtApp 1/56 Peacefully at home on 24 March 2024 surrounded by his family. Dearly loved husband of Christina and loved father and father-in-law of Sean and Lisa, Bevan and Anne. Special Poppa to Tahlia, Jade, and Amber. Requiem Mass will be held at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 336 Wairau Road, Glenfield on Wednesday 27 March at midday followed by burial at the North Shore Memorial Park Cemetery, Albany.
PEKE Pete Ex Writer has CTB aged 55. Joined 3/86. He served either on Waikato/Wellington in 89 when both ships and Endeavour went up top and that’s all I know about his service history. When he left pussers he moved to Whangamata. Pete became a club legend, team mate at the Whangamata Rugby Club where is lying in state until his funeral at the club on Tuesday morning 11am. He is survived by partner and father to Deirdre, Kurt, Sammy, Kauri & Jah

COATES, Thomas (Tom) Edwin S/No 552056 Joined as ME2, RNZN It is with sadness we inform whanau and friends that Thomas (Tom) Edwin Coates 19/06/1934 – 01/03/2024 in his 89th year, returned serviceman RNZN no 552056 boarded his last waka on 1st March 2024 in Gisborne the place of his birth and his Ngati Porou whakapapa. Dad served on the Pukaki, Endevour, Rotoiti, Tamaki, and the Royalist and the Monowai. He is the loved son of Hilton and Kathleen (nee Goldsmith) Coates from Te Karaka. Loved older brother to Eric(dec) and Dusk. Whangai father to Dave MCCorkindale (Pitoi), father to Edwin (Ted) (Wellington)Tania and Jimi (Rotorua), Shane (Tumoana), (Gisborne) Rawhiti and Tania, Kawerau) Delmar and Rikki, (Kawerau), Thomas and Rose, (Tauranga) Kat and Shanon (Gisborne) and Joe (Perth). Koro to his many moko and moko tuarua. Dads wish was to be cremated and buried with his parents in the RSA plot in Gisborne. A private cremation will be held on 4th March at Hillcrest before he returns to Gisborne on Monday. The RSA are yet to confirm interment date with the whanau.
