TE RATA, Paul (Pikitia): MCPO T14852 RNZN Passed away peacefully, surrounded by whanau on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 aged 91 years. Father of Jill & Richard Roger. Grandad of Krystal & Ian Ward, and Danielle Roger. Koro to Lily, Liam and Lincoln. Loved son of the late George (Hori) & Erana Te Rata (Chee Fah). Treasured brother of Puti & Noel (dec) Roberts, Tingey & Dorleen (both deceased), Kaari (dec), Sonny & Josie (dec), Willie & Shayna Fah, Olive & Jacob (dec) Peeti, Quin & Marion Farr, Graeme Tim, Richard & Sue Fah, Rose & Colin (dec) Skudder, Ross & Judy Fah, & Eddie & Judy Fah. A much-loved uncle and koro to all his nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers donations to Cook Street, Nursing Care Centre would be appreciated and may be left in the chapel foyer. A special thank you to the team at Cook Street for their loving care of Paul. Friends are invited to attend a service for Paul at the Beauchamp Chapel, 167 John F Kennedy Drive, Palmerston North, on Friday 28th of August 2020, at 11.00am. Followed by interment at Kelvin Grove Cemetery.

EARLES Charles (Charlie), Lieutenant Commander RNZN Rtd. Charlie lost his battle with cancer yesterday. Charlie is survived by his loving wife Jean, daughters Catherine and Samantha and grandson Jaxon. Charlie has been living in Portsmouth, the UK since 2003. RIP Charlie, a great friend and colleagueCondolences to Jean and Family.

Thomas James WHATUIRA, M16801 WOMAA Passed this morning 20/8/20 North Shore Hospital. more details to follow Update on TOM WHATUIRA: In consultation with Kathie, there have been issues with the family getting access to Tom, due to the Covid-19 level 3. Tom was very unwell, and he was in a rest home in Te Atatu, prior to him CTB. Today Tom will be cremated in a private ceremony, and the family will be given his ashes Friday. When they get the green light they will return him to his marae in Wairau as a respect to all Tom’s Old Salts friends, service will be held on his marae in Wairau, and you will be informed of date and times once known.

RANGI, Norman Tuta. RNZN, Reg. No. S20555, R/P. Born 13 June 1955 passed away peacefully 23 August 2020. Beautiful soul peacefully at rest. Loved brother of Johnny (deceased), Barron Ratapu, Rimini Paranihi (Mini -Australia), Papakore Sadlier (Bob – Australia), William Rangi (Bill- deceased), Eva Paurini, Frederick Rangi (deceased) and Whare Rangi (deceased). Loving husband of Faye (deceased) Totally loved father of Tracey Rangi (Australia) and completely adored Koro of Konrad, Jisharne, Kyara, Brazen, Dayton and Ezra (Australia). Friends are invited to attend a service to celebrate Norman’s life in the Forrest Lawn Chapel, 208 Guyton Street, Whanganui on Thursday 27 August 2020 at 1.00 pm to be followed by cremation at the Aramoho Crematorium. MOLYNEUX, Don: NZ13611 RNZN British Merchant Navy R409097. On August 10, 2020, Don passed away peacefully at Timaru Public Hospital. Beloved husband of Atsuko and father and father-in-law of Lorraine and Craig Fowler. Very loved Pop of Courtney, Chelsea and partner Alessandro. Loved great-Pop of Zakaia, Tahlia and Kiara. Also Don’s extended family in Japan. At Don’s request, a private service has been held. Messages to 4 Cook Street, Timaru 7910.

BUTLER, Francis Ernest Craddock (Frank). RNZN 14221. Stoker. Passed away peacefully at North Shore Hospital after a long illness, on Saturday 8 August 2020, aged 84. Loved husband of Betty and the late Iris. Frank will be missed by all of his family and friends. A service will be held at the North Harbour Chapel of Dil’s Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road Albany, on Monday 17 August at 12.30 pm, followed by private cremation. Due to the current Covid restrictions, the service for Frank on Monday 17 August has been postponed, further funeral details will follow.

THOMPSON Jill (nee Franklin) It is with the deepest regret that I have to advise that Jill, (ex RNZN and RNZNVR, CPO Writer Rtd H28504) passed away at 0730hrs this morning 5 August 2020. Sincere condolences to Jill’s family. A funeral will be held at St Christopher’s Chapel, Devonport Naval Base, on Tuesday, 11th August, at 1100hrs. Photo ID is required to enter the Naval Base. Medals to be worn.

CLARKSON, William (Paul). Ex RNZN Passed away peacefully at Ranfurly Veteran’s Hospital, Auckland on Thursday 6 August 2020 aged 80. Loving member of the Clarkson Whanau. A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held at the Te Atatu RSA, 1 Harbour View Road, on Friday 14 August at 10.30am. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Ranfurly Veterans Hospital, and North Shore Hospital Oncology for their kindness, care and compassion. ‘Forever in our hearts and at peace now.’

BEECHEY, Philip Walter: (NZ338979 RNZNVR) Passed away peacefully on Monday 3 August 2020. Dearly loved husband of Helen. Mentor to his 3 sons John, Michael, and Richard.
