On April 4, 2026, peacefully at Wairarapa Hospital, Masterton, after a short illness. Aged 79 years. Much loved husband of Sue. Loved father and father-in-law of Lance, Damon, Michael and Alex, Julie and Sam. Cherished Poppa to Ben, Brittany, Madison, Jackson, William, and Sebastian. A loved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Messages may be posted c/- PO Box 460, Masterton. A private family farewell has been held in Masterton.
⚓️POYSDEN, William Dudley (Bill) VRD Retired Commander RNZNVR (ex NZ Railways). On April 15, 2026, passed away peacefully at Charles Upham Retirement Village, Rangiora, in his 99th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Joan, and the late Tricia, loved father and father-in-law of Ruth and John Thompson, Claire Poysden, Mark and Jackie (London), loved Grandad of Paul, Kathryn, and Dave; Jeremy, Rob, and Carly; Emily, Thea, and Luke, loved Great-Grandad of his 16 lovely great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Hillary, and the late Fay. Loved stepfather of Laurie, Lynda, Julie, and Fran. At rest after a long serving and loving life. ⚓️THOMPSON, Stephen Allan (Steve, Scruff). NZ18634 Joined 1/66 as JME
In loving memory of Stephen Allan Thompson born April 23, 1949, who passed away suddenly after a short illness on April 9 2026. Beloved son of the late Mervyn Lawrence and Merle Kathleen Thompson. Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Sesa Poutoa, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. Stephen was a proud and loving father to Elise and Adam Bell, Natasha and Michael Epapara, and brother to Kathleen Misa, Brian Thompson, and Kelly-Maree Smith also his brothers Victor, Leslie, Raymond and Bruce, who predeceased him and grandfather to his three grandchildren Owen, Jessica and Leo and his loving niece Caoimhe. A gathering to celebrate Steve will be held at a location to be advised. Kay and Sesa extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of Ward 61 at Auckland City Hospital for their compassionate care and support of Stephen during his final days.
