Frank Retires from the RNZN – YEAH RIGHT!!
The time has come for me to retire from the RNZN. This will occur this coming week on the 4th August with just over 45 years of service in the Andrew. However, and this is the “Yeah Right” part, on the 5th August I will commence a 2 year contract on the Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve as a Commander. This will enable me to continue to carry out some unfinished business and also to continue as the Director of Naval Reserves in a part-time capacity until they can find a relief for me (nominally Christmas 11). So there it is, certainly a change of lifestyle is in store and I know mentally I am ready for the change. Thanks to all who have supported me in my career over the years and now both Laurie and I look forward to the future and the challenges that will bring. I know Laurie is already working on a list!!!!, which I guess is normal for retired sailors.
Regards Frank
