A life of dedicated service to the Navy, Iwi, Hapu, Whānau and the wider community. Treasured son of Koroneira Kahira Keepa and Hinemarama Te Amo and loved brother of Tuihana, Punohu, Rahoroi, Hone and Wharehera. Loving partner of Raewyn Winiata. Adored and loved by his tamariki and mokopuna Terri, Cliff and Shalom, Liz and David, Claire and Ian, Hinemarama, John Leo, Ellen, Jack, Hemi, Tane. Tonty lays at Ngāti Moko Marae, Waitangi, Te Puke. Ra Nehu: Wednesday 30th June, Service at 11 am. He aroha mutunga kore.
CLARKE, Wilfred Douglas (Doug). NZ11572 EM, RNZN. Born January 06, 1929. Passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021. Dearly beloved husband of Alison loved father and stepfather of Anita, Robyn, Bradley, Mitchell, Neil and Wendy. A rich life well lived. HESKETH John (Pop) E928928 crossed the bar suddenly on 26 June 2021 at home in Dunedin. John had been suffering from Asbestos-related lung cancer. John’s funeral is being held at Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bat Road, Dunedin on Saturday 3 July at 1100.
RUSSELL, Stanley Gordon: LSEA Stan passed away peacefully on Sunday 13 June 2021 with family next to him, just a few weeks shy of his 88th birthday. Long time resident of Rugby Street of Palmerston North, and Willard and Brightwater Homes. Ex RNZN 644987, Lines Branch at NZPO/Telecom, call sign ZL2BRS, NVTA, Antique Bottle Club and Amateur Radio Club. Loved husband of the late Helen, and dad and dad-in-law of Michael, and Claire and Julie, David and Amporn and Denise and Dave. Grandad to six children and their partners and great-grandad to six. In lieu of flowers, a direct donation to the SPCA would be much appreciated. A Service for Stan will be held in The Terracehaven Chapel, 697 Main Street, Palmerston North, on Friday 18th June at 10.00 am. SHERVELL, John Henry. 20 May 1933 – 12 June 2021 C13319 RN, RNZN, RNZAF, NZ ARMY(TF) After being brought up through the deprivations of the WW2 he joined the RN at 16, at 17 he hitched a Ride-on RNZN Taupo to NZ. His 10 yr Navel career ended in 1958 when he married Ngaire Cunninghame to whom he was married for 56 yrs. In 1960 he joined the RNZAF, living in Ak they raised their 3 children. In the mid-seventies, he retired from the RNZAF and did a summer in Antarctica with the Army(TF).In the eighties, he lived and worked in Papua New Guinea and Bougainville till he retired to Warkworth. A Life Well Lived A huge vote of Thanks to the Nurses and Carers for the comfort and care they provided over the years at Jane Mander Hospital in Whangarei. A Private Service will be Held. SHARPE, Michael: RN (Retired) 8 July 1935 – 5 June 2021 Age 85. On 5th June 2021, in Shona McFarlane, Lower Hutt peacefully passed away in his sleep. Dearly loved husband of the late Daphne Jean Sharpe. Much loved father and father-in-law of Carol & Ian Jordan, adored by grandchildren Lee & Nicola, Nichola & Andrew, Olivia, and great-grandchildren Isabelle, Sophie, Jacob and William. A service for family and friends to commemorate Michael’s life will be held in the Arise Centre 3 Pita-one Road Korokoro, Lower Hutt, on Monday, 14th June 2021 at 2.00 pm.
DINWIDDIE Michael Forrest LRO X18536 crossed the bar 1 June 2021. Mike had unfortunately suffered ill health and pain for some time and is now at rest. Service to be confirmed but it is hoped to be at St Christophers followed by interment at Schnapper Rock. Details to follow. Mike joined the RNZN on 19 May 1965 and left on 2 December 1976. He served in TAMAKI, PHILOMEL, IRIRANGI, INVERELL, WAKEFIELD, COMAUCK, OTAGO and TUI.
