JONES, Raymond Stanley (Ray). Petty Officer Radioman P17516 Born January 18, 1946. Passed away on April 30, 2021. loved father of Shane, Tracy, Ali, Caro. Loved Grandfather of Rachel, Chloe, Mathew, BB, Bryan, Tali, Josh. Loved Great grandfather to his 7 great grandies. You will be missed dearly, dad. Ray served in TAMAKI, PHILOMEL, ROYALIST, IRIRANGI, MARORO, INVERELL, HAKU, LACHLAN and TARANAKI.

LAUER, Murray Thorburn. (RNZN. Service No. 14197. Nuclear Test Vet.) Passed away on 26 April 2021 aged 85 years. Lifetime friend and husband of Carol. Cherished father and father in law of Gregory and Rachel, and Kim and Rod. Proud Poppa to Danielle, Tyler, Greta and Ingrid. A service for Murray will be held in the Garden Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, 220 Universal Drive, Henderson on Monday 3 April 2021 at 2:00 pm.

HOLLANDS, Eric James. RNZN Reg No. 12863 1949-1955 Korean War Veteran 1952-1953 Passed away peacefully at Auckland Hospital on 20 April 2021. Aged 90yrs. Loving husband to Glenys much loved father and father in law to Darryl, Sonya and Judith and loving Popa to Rachel and Sarah. The family wish to thank the staff at Ranfurly Hospital for their love and care for Eric, while he was there. According to Eric’s wishes, a private service will be held.

GALLAWAY, Iain Watson: QSO, MBE. Ex RNZN, WWII, D Class Cruiser. Peacefully on April 18, 2021; aged 98 years. Loved husband of the late Virginia, loved father and father-in-law of Sarah and Hunter, Annie, Garth and Lisa, Alice and Warwick, grandfather of Madeleine, Jessie, Finbar, Francesca, Gabriel, and Ted. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caregivers and nurses of Yvette Williams Retirement Village, who have cared for Dad with so much love and respect. A service for Iain will be held in St Paul’s Cathedral, The Octagon, Dunedin, on Friday, April 23, at 11.00am. ALCOCK, Terrence Colin. (WWII RNZN SIG.) Passed away 18 April 2021 aged 97 years. Adored husband of the late Dawn. Loved and loving father of Raewyn, Christine, Leonie and Paul. Cherished father in law of Gary, Roger, Andy and Charisse, much loved Pop to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Summerset Heritage Park for all their love and care. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 510 Riddell Road Glendowie, on Friday 23 April 2021 at 11:00 am. WEHI Peri Hami

Regret to advise that our good friend Pire Wehi A19182 crossed the bar on Saturday, 17 April 2021 after a valiant battle with prostate cancer. He joined the Navy in September 1967 as an Ordinary Recruit Radio Operator and later transferred to the Electronic Warfare trade in 1972. Pire served in TAMAKI, PHILOMEL, IRIRANGI, TARANAKI, OTAGO, CANTERBURY, TASMAN, and WAKEFIELD. He left the RNZN in April 1977 as a Petty Officer Electronic Warfare Supervisor. As per Pire’s wishes. He will lay in state at the family home 60 Bridge Street, Bulls. Funeral service: Thursday 11 am at Te Matapihi, 4 Criterion Street, Bulls followed by interment at Bulls Cemetery, Watson Street, Bulls. All Enquiries to 021 0828-0723

TUATINI, Haami, ex RNZN LSEA Gunner RNZN 1977-91, Aged 61Haami passed away on Friday 16 April 2021. Haami is survived by his wife Diane (nee Edmonds), Leah and Patrick, Pearl-Aroha and Tairoa and Kerri-Ann Moana and Tawhai. His mokopuna, Kaira, Ebony-May, Melody, Te Ariki and Esther-Jaqueline.Tomorrow morning, Sunday 18th April, Haami will be going to his home in Ohaupō, 3987 Ohaupõ Rd, for one night. On Monday 19th April, Haami will travel to Te Tauā Moana Marae, Devonport Naval Base, Stanley Point for one night. Haami and the whānau are expected to arrive between 11 am-12 pm. Haami will be returning to Raetihi early Tuesday morning, leaving Devonport at 5 am. He will lay in state at Raetihi Marae, Raetihi Ohakune Road, Raetihi.Burial day is on Wednesday 21st April, service will commence at 11 am. He will be interned at the Raetihi Lawn Cemetery. FEA, David (Bruce) RNZN 9753, JP. Deeply loved and totally adored by all of his family. Bruce passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021 two days after his 98th birthday. Strong and positive to the end, a mighty and loving man, who gave all aspects of life and family, including his dearly loved late wife, Robin, his all. Bruce is survived by his children, Dave, Nicky, Duncan, Sally, and their respective partners, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by Malyon House staff and residents. Well done, Old Soldier. Your march has ended. Time to rest. A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at Mount Harbour Chapel, cnr Tawa and Puriri Streets Mt Maunganui on Friday 16th April at 11am. Donations to Waipuna Hospice in lieu of flowers, thanks. BRITTON, Donald Reginald George (BRIT) Veteran Royal Navy 1943 – 1945 – RNZN 1948 – 1951 L/STOKER NZ 12183 1.4.1926 -7.4.2021 Brit died peacefully at home with Family aged 95. Loved Husband of Lil (Deceased), father of Butch and Grandad of Kara. Loved stepdad of Brian Walker and Loraine (Deceased) and families and Graeme (Huck) and Val Walker and families. Admired uncle of the Cuzies and long-standing friends. Thanks from Family for Hospice support uncomplaining and stoic until the very end. Brit had requested no funeral or service, typical of his no-fuss attitude to life. Love ya Brit – R.I.P.

HINDLE, Peter Brian (Pete). Died peacefully in his 100th year on March 10 2021. A World War II veteran (RNZN) and loved husband of the late Irene, Father and Father-in-law of Wendy and Dean, Matthew and Christina, Grandchildren Peter, Andrew, Emma, Sarah and James, Great Grandad to Georgia, Benson, Joel, Samuel and Zofia. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Edenvale Rest Home. Papa’s life to be honoured at a private Family service. Thank you for everything Dad, you will always be in our hearts with love.

McGREGOR, Evan Forbes. Regtl.No. 623436 RNZN On 5th April 2021, Evan died at Middlemore Hospital, at 8.45 pm, with his loving wife Carol at his side, holding his hand. Aged 86 years. Dearly loved father of Robert and Joanne, Grant and Joanne, and Douglas. And Poppa of his dearly loved grandchildren. Missed by all his family. We’ll miss the old rock. BIRTWISTLE, Allan John. NZ15267 SA RNZN. At Rotorua Hospital, on April the 4th, after an accident, surrounded by his loving family and friends, aged 83 years. He passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends. Loved husband of Winsome Birtwistle, father of Mark, Bruce and Sahra Birtwistle, grandfather of Fallyn, Beau, Xavier, Truman and Riley. We will miss him so much, as will his friends at the Masonic Lodge.
