HEAD, Edward Leslie (Les): RNZN 15285. Peacefully on December 29, 2020, at Hospice S.C., surrounded by his loving family. Much loved husband of Tina, loved dad of Graeme and Sandra, Lisa and Nik House, loved grandad of Emma; Cassidy, Mikaia, Ananiah and Taber, loved and respected uncle to Greg, and brother-in-law to Colleen. A funeral service for Les will be held at Betts Funeral Services, 33 North Street, Timaru, on Tuesday, January 5, at 3.30 pm, followed by private cremation. LOVELL, Raymond Cyril (Ray) S.No E19094, RNZ Navy LSEA SN1, HMNZS Otago Mururoa Vet. Peacefully on the 29th December 2020 at home surrounded by his family. Best mate of Carol, beloved father and father-in-law of Scott and Leanne, Grant and Sharon and loved poppa of Hunter, Finn, James and William. SANSON, Ross George Garnett. Commander, RNZN On 27 December 2020, peacefully with his family at his side. Loved husband of Elspeth. Father of Jane and Robert, father-in-law of Mark and the late Karine. Much loved grandfather of Luca, Cammie, Zoe, Isabella, and Ruby. Loved by his many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. CARNALL, Kennith Colin Boy Bugler Her Majesty’s Royal Marines May 1945 – April 1950. RNZN, NZ 13706 Medical CPO(D.A) May 1950 – April 1967. On 22 December 2020. Beloved husband of the late Leslie. Cherished and much loved dad of Cathy, Colin (deceased), Barbara, Chris, Trish and their families. Loving grandad and great grandad. 22 April 1950, NZ13706 Ordinary Seaman Kennith Colin Carnall enlisted into the Royal New Zealand Navy, May that year Ken transferred trades to start his career in the RNZN as a Sick Berth Attendant (SBA), later specialising as a Dental Attendant. Ken continued to serve New Zealand until retiring from the Royal New Zealand Navy on the 20th Apr 1967.

HELMING Gary ex WOPRI P20345 crossed the bar 26 December 2020. Funeral to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Wednesday 30 Dec 20 @ 2 pm, at 92 Kippenberger Ave, Rangiora. There will also be a link posted probably Tuesday for live coverage.

HARRADEN George Douglas PORM, Passed peacefully at home, after a brave battle on Friday, 25th December 2020. Dearly loved husband and soulmate of Catherine. Dearly loved husband of the late Jo Ann, and much loved father of Ellen Louise, and AJ. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Brenda and Gilly Miller. A loved uncle, and friend to many. A service to celebrate George’s life will be held in the Cleveland Chapel, 179 Ingestre Street, Wanganui, Wednesday, the 6th of January 2021 at 2pm.

GRIMSDALE, Clive Thomas. CDR (ret) Service No B17964 Born September 21, 1933. Passed away on December 17, 2020. Died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Forrest Hill Home and Hospital. Son of Tom and Pearl. Husband to Margaret for 59 years. Amazing Dad to Julia and Andrew. Loving Poppa to Cole, Michael, Ella and James. The family are very grateful to the incredible care he received from the staff at Forrest Hill Home and Hospital where he has lived for over 5 years. A celebration of his life will be held next year. We will advise when closer to the time. He was a true officer and a gentleman.

RIS, Ian Michael. CDR (Rtd) RNZN, Ian joined as an Apprentice Radio Fitter in 1980, commissioned from the ranks in 1991, and retired from the RNZN after 26 years service as a Commander. On the 23 December, 2020 sadly passed away. Dearly loved son to Dick and Sheila, brother to David and Nui, a much-loved husband to June, treasured dad to Jenee and Jamie and James, and granddad to Shire and Rylan. A funeral service will be held in the Main Chapel of Morrison Funeral Home 220 Universal Drive Henderson on Tuesday 29 December at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand. “At peace at last.”

INGRAM, Arthur John (Jack). Born October 21, 1925. Passed away on December 23, 2020, at the Bayview Rest Home (Tauranga) after a short illness. RNZN NZ10740, he served in Europe in ’44 and ’45. Aged 95, he was the eldest of seven and the last of his generation. Loved husband of Winnie (nee McLaren) and of Joyce (previously Allan); father and father-in-law of Jenny and John Miller, Tom and Imelda, Mary and Lance Hodgson, Chris and Claire-Lucia. Dearly loved Pa to Catherine, Margaret and Stephen; Michael and David; Matthew, Stella, Adrian and Nolan; Ben and Adam; also to his great-grandchildren Oliver, Lucy, Mitchell, Hugo, Evie, Luna, and Tuhirangi. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Bayview and Tauranga Hospital for their care. A service will be held at Legacy Funerals 383 Pyes Pa Road, Tauranga, 11 am Wednesday 30th December. PEIRCE, Ivan James King. 711885, ME1, RNZN. Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 19, 2020, in his 86th year. Dearly loved husband and best friend to Dliss. FINDLAY, Malcolm James (Blue). RNZN – No. 11983. Passed away peacefully with family by his side on 11 December 2020, in his 95th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Dawn Findlay, nee Kelly. Much Loved Father of Glen and Jo and Donna and Phil. Cherished Poppa Blue to Summer-Lee and William, Jessica and Joe, Hayden and Hanna, Jasmine, and Te Wana. Great Poppa Blue of Layton- Blue, Ahi Toa, Hamo Riki. Uncle, cousin and friend to many. A service to celebrate Blue’s life will be held on Tuesday the 15 December at 1400 (2 pm) in the Chapel of Remembrance, Mangere Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium, 85 McKenzie Road, Mangere. LAW, Michael George (Mike). M18803 AB MG LAW RNZN Unexpectedly on 4 December 2020 while helping a friend in Waiuku. Dearly loved husband of Sharleen, loved Dad of Catherine, Shane, and Kerry. Loved Granddad of Jordan, Olivia, Georgia, Shania, Reuben, William, Kayne, Heidi and Bella, Great granddad of Baylen. A service will be held at the Kaiwaka Sports Assoc. Complex, 2 Gibbons Rd on Thursday 10 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated for the Kaiwaka Volunteer Fire Brigade.

    Not many communicators will remember, but when Ian was a young A/PORF, he served at DCU as an AMSS tech. He was there for three years.

    Hence his years as an officer revolved around I.T.
