The Best Map Ever of World War II
This is truly fascinating. Each click of the mouse moves the war forward. If you have never seen this, it is very well done a great graphical presentation of the second world war.
Too bad specific dates were not included for the major campaigns. Truly scary how many countries fell to Hitler before he opened his fatal second front in Russia.
This is an outstanding depiction of Nazi Germany’s takeover of Europe from 1942 to 1945. It puts the enormity of WWII in Europe in perspective.

Thanks Gordon Cattermole for the link.
The graphics and flow are well done. The title is misleading since so much of the war took place before November 1942. Also, as the ppt commences, dates would be very helpful for each of the myriad events. it’s difficult to remember just exactly when the Germans parachuted into Crete, for example.
Very good line of march of the different sides in this war, Russia had overpowering Infantry armies, and hundreds of tank units. France was in bad shape, Britain fought valiantly, along with the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. Russia suffered more than any country on the allied side by far, over 120 million people killed in the war. Germany lost at least 8 million people, Japan losses
were exorbiant, and Chinas wil never be known. The European countries of Poland, France, Czecholslovakia, Denmard,Austria, Ireland, all these countries suffered greatly, only the US and Canada was spared the terrible damage that all the European countries suffered so badly. Not to mention the Asian countries along with China, and Japan suffered thru two Atomic bombs and the astronomical number of people that were killed and will never know just how many were killed.
And they suffered much more than anyone other than Germany and Russia. I was in Germany from Oct 64 to Dec 65, and there was still old bunkers in the outlying areas. In Vietnam, in 66, 67, 68 I saw the remains of old French tanks that had been destroyed in the 40’s, and 50’s.
I was in Russia in 2005 and 2007, and have seen many of the war memorials to the Russian men and women who died valiantly, their are more war memorial to the Russian Army and people than
any country I have ever been in. And is truly an honor to have known these people, I have talked to War veterans of the WW2 ERA, and the war in Afghanistan, but in the last war they were wrong to go there in the first place, (Just like us), we should have never went there in the first place.

Just to follow on from Michaels comments of old “things” still left in various places, I was in Vienna last year, where there are still three large Flak Towers from WW2. These towers are so well constructed that they can,t remove them.
Obviously they were constructed to be bomb proof and cant be blown up to get rid of them due to the close proximity of other buildings in the city. They were built to also serve as air raid shelters for the citizens of Vienna.
One tower was used for a time as an aquarium, and both now have no current use.
