And I was there too . . . selling programs !
I sold them at the swimming events at the QE2 stadium. Got to see many of the greats of the day in the pool, in the heats and finals. Also sold them at the cycling velodrome, Denton Park. And all around the city were many of the Holden HQ Kingswoods. Such a cool car at the time.
I was there on Canterbury, doing escort duties for the Royal Yacht Britannia, had an awesome visit to my home town – and manage to burgle a few tickets to the athletic events, so took my Mum along to see John Walker and Dick Taylor both win Gold Medals – Sadly QEII Park is no longer with us, another victim of the 2011 earthquakes.
Great times and a memorable event.
