REUNION CONSIDERATION UPDATE
- In the Reunion Update of 1 November, it was stated that the RNZNCA committee would meet after the Government’s announcement on the Traffic
Light system on 29 November 2021 and that a final decision on holding the reunion made on 14 January 2022. - The announcement has been made, but the information given is inconclusive and their future plans vague. Additionally, the emergence of the new COVID-19
variant, Omicron, has muddied the waters even more; how it will spread in New Zealand and what the Government’s reaction to it will be are unknown. - The Government’s announced intention is for another Cabinet meeting on 17 January 2022 to review the Traffic Light system and to announce any changes
to the lights in force in various regions then. By this time, the spread of COVID19 around the country over the Christmas/New Year break and the
effects of the Omicron variant should be known. - Accordingly, the committee meeting to make the final decision on the reunion will now be held on 19 January 2022. The results of the decision will be
promulgated as soon as possible afterwards.
