The Princess Royal is celebrating her 70th birthday this weekend.
Princess Anne was born at Clarence House on 15 August 1950 and is younger sister to the Prince of Wales.
She is the mother of silver medal-winning Olympic horsewoman Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips.
Princess Anne Receives Army And RAF Promotions On 70th Birthday
Anne is famed for her hard work and no-nonsense approach to life.
She is one of the busiest royals and is involved with more than 300 charities, organisations and military regiments.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s only daughter regularly tops the leader board as the Royal Family member carrying out the most public engagements.
To mark her 70th birthday, the Princess Royal has been promoted in the Royal Air Force and British Army.
Princess Anne received promotions to the rank of General in the Army and to Air Chief Marshal in the RAF.
They will formally take effect immediately and have been approved by the Queen.
It brings the Princess Royal’s Army and RAF ranks in line with the rank of Admiral she holds within the Royal Navy and follows the long-standing convention of military promotions for members of the Royal Family.
