Navy nurse recalls treating sailor casualties during Falklands conflict
A nurse who treated casualties during the Falklands conflict – including badly burned survivors from HMS Sheffield’s missile attack by Argentina – has recalled her experience.
Forty years ago, the hospital ship HMHS Uganda received her first British casualties during the conflict.
Some of Sheffield’s most seriously injured sailors were transferred to the ship for treatment.

Nicci Pugh was one of only 40 British women who served in the Falklands – as a Senior Nursing Officer with Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Service on board the hospital ship.
