Navy Motels

The newest naval accommodation will be opened with an official ceremony in Mt Maunganui on Friday 6 October. Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral David Ledson, will formally name and open the Navy Lodge, located at 14 May St, Mt Maunganui, at 3 pm.  
The Navy Lodge will be used primarily as a leisure and recreational facility for naval personnel and their families. It was purchased by the personnel in the Navy from their own funds. 
The honour of selecting an appropriate name for their newest Navy Lodge has been given to naval personnel with a naming competition held over the last few weeks. The winner of the competition and the selected name for the Navy Lodge will be announced at the opening.
The opening of the Navy Lodge in Mt Maunganui comes almost a year after a similar facility, Arawa Lodge, was formally opened in Taupo.
