Hi to all you old pussers. Although I haven’t contributed much I have always kept an eye on what is going on with ex comms. I remember many of the people and still like to keep up with what is going on. I have had a little free time lately and have decided it is time I did something about it.

I had various blood tests done late last year and earlier this year for the 55 yr old check up. After several tests and stuff they eventually did an angiogram on me and found I had only 1 good artery and a couple that were partially blocked, the rest were stuffed. My mother’s side of the family all suffered from heart disease and died of heart disease at a fairly early age. My brothers and I all have naturally high Cholesterol and are all on medication. I have had check ups done before with ECG to check out chest pains but nothing showed up. Looking back on it I have had this since my mid 20’s and it has slowly been getting worse. Basically they found the blocked arteries while they were doing tests for other things.

I had open heart surgery 3 months ago and they did 6 bypasses from what I understand. As I was younger than most going through this surgery, they replaced arteries that may have failed with 10 years, so instead of waiting they did the lot. As the discovery was accidental, I feel lucky it was picked up before I had a heart attack. My 3 month post op check was fine and the surgeon was happy with my progress. I am returning to work in the New Year.

I am now living in Geelong, Australia working as a Swim Coach/Teacher, Lifeguard and shift supervisor/pool manager for the City of Greater Geelong Leisure network. They run 6 pools in the area. I am married to Lynanne and have 3 children all grown up. Lynanne works for a TAFE College. Shannon (25) is a chef and he is studying art part time until he gets his qualifications. Jenna (23) works in hospitality and is currently in Christchurch working at Chateau on the Park. Sara (22) also works in hospitality and start university next year to study psychology.

To those that know me, I wish you seasons greetings.
