CHARLES, Lauren Gerard Reg No NZ16095 (Malaya). On February 14, 2019, Valentines Day, passed peacefully at Christchurch Hospital, aged 78 years. Much loved father of Heather and Colin, and loved brother of Kevin. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Christchurch Hospital whose skills made this time easier to bear. HAYWARD, Reginald John (Reg). Service Number 11667 Navy, KoreaPassed away peacefully at Switzer Home Kaitaia, on 10th February 2019 aged 87 years. Beloved husband of the late Jean, much loved father and father-in-law of Tony and Julie, Chris and Sharron and Warren(deceased)and adored poppa and great poppa In accordance with Reg’s wishes a private cremation will be held.

POINTON, Albert James. AB. RNZN 16 February 1932 – 7 February 2019. Passed away peacefully in Taupo. Dearly loved husband of the Late Noeline Mary Pointon. Loved and respected Father and Father in Law of Stephen and Julie, Gregory and Annette, and Nigel. Sadly missed Grandad of Jeremy, Caitlin, Brooke, William, Rebecca, James and Shelbee. Great Grandad to Aron, Sophie, Max and Jordan. A service to celebrate Albert’s life was held at the Great Lake Centre, 5 Story Pl, Taupo on Wednesday the 13th of February.

McONIE David John, V20098 POMEA, RNZN; later LtCdr(E) RCN As at 29-1-19 of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Dave has been courageously fighting cancer past four years. He has advised family that his days are numbered shortly, but he is at peace and ready to go.

WASTNEY, George NZD3456 (Navy). On January 30, 2019, in Blenheim, aged 96 years. Beloved husband of Molly for 74 years and father and father-in-law of Peter and Sue (Nelson), Jeffrey and Judy (Waikanae), Raewyn and Russell (Ruby Bay), Meryl and Peter (Blenheim) and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Messages to Villa 8, 131 Cleghorn Street, Blenheim 7201. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Redwood Lifestyle Village for the love and care of George. In lieu of flowers a donation to Life Flight Trust, c/- PO Box 14-449, Wellington 6241, would be appreciated or may be made at the service. A Funeral Service for George will be held at the Wesley Centre, Henry Street, on Wednesday, February 6, at 2.00pm, followed by private cremation at the Cloudy Bay Crematorium.
