Cherished father and father-in-law of Raymond, Barbara and Neil (Aust). Grandfather of Matthew and Natalie. Respected Uncle and a great friend to many.

RYE, Peter Raymond. (Regtl No. 514282, Sig, NZA TF, Service No. NZ514282, Stores, RNZN, Regtl No. 1201572, L/Bdr, Australian Army, Vietnam). Passed away unexpectedly, on 29th September, 2015; aged 82 years. Loving husband of Ruth, loving Dad of Ray and Karen, Sue and Robin, Andrew, Jennifer and John. Loved Poppa of Christopher, Penelope, Timothy, Michael, Samuel, Jacob and Great- grandfather of 5. A good keen Waikato man, born and bred. Moved away only to return in his later years to the place he loved the most. Peter (Dad), you will be truly missed. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at the Paeroa RSA, Normanby Rd, Paeroa, on Monday 5th October, at 11am, followed by interment at Pukerimu Cemetery, RSA Section. CURTIN, Jacqueline Frances (Jackie) Born 21 October 1963. Passed away on 30 September 2015. Precious Mum of Jeremy and Kyla. Treasured daughter of Peter and Muriel and much loved baby sister and sister in law of Jimmy, Jocelyn, Judy and Clive, and Pete. Adored by all of her nieces and nephews. Kiwi Mum to Nat in Switzerland. After a long and courageous battle, our Angel has spread her wings and taken flight. Jackie is resting in her home at 7 Anne Place Putaruru. A service will be held on Saturday 3rd October at 11am at St Patricks Catholic Church Putaruru, followed by interment at Tirau Cemetery. Light refreshments and a celebration of Jackie’s life will be held afterward at the Putaruru District Services Memorial Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to St John’s Ambulance Putaruru Division will be gratefully accepted.

HOLMES, Christopher Maurice (Chris). (Service No. P19701, RNZN). Passed away peacefully (surrounded by family) at home in Whangapoua, on Monday 28th September, 2015; aged 62 years. Loving partner of Lynne, adventurous Dad of Zane and Glory, Renee and Josef, and proud Grandpa to Rafael. Special friend of Justin and Kirstin, Sarah and Umut, and Emma. HOWARD, Neil Gerard. LT CDR VRD* RNZNVR (Rtd) On September 17, 2015 at Dunedin Hospital; in his 85th year.  Dearly beloved husband of Margaret Ann, cherished father and father-in-law of Kirstin and Alan, Stephanie and Evert, Jonathan and Sally, and dearest -Neil of Tristan, Arthur and Hector, and loved uncle of Julie, Gillian, and Christine.  Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Holy Name Catholic Church, 420 King Street, at 1pm on Tuesday September 22, followed by private cremation.  Neill was the CO of TOROA from 1964-1975 and was most recently the curator of the History room, he was associated with TOROA for over forty years.

HOWAT, Colin James Able Seaman No. 9240 HMNZS Gambia WW2. On September 10, 2015, at Granger House, Greymouth. Loved only son of May and Archie Howat. Dearly loved husband of Mary, cherished and adored father of Susan and Drew and father-in-law to Ian and Elizabeth. Much loved brother of Betty Hinchliff (Christchurch), Alison Flavel (Adelaide) and Jean Ewing (Wanganui) and a loyal brother-in-law. A special uncle of all his nieces and nephews. Being the delivery Chief for HMNZS Taranaki.  Later in life he took a Doctor of Divinity Degree and was a Minister for many years around the Nelson and West Coast areas).

McKAY, Richard (Dick) RNZN 4977 – Leander and Achilles WWII. Born 26 October 1925. Passed away on 8 September 2015. Dick passed away peacefully at Sunset Rest Home and Hospital, Auckland. Beloved father/father in law of Rosemary and Alan Caddy (Auckland), Lynette and Gerard O’Born (Adelaide) and Noeleen and Des Postlewaight (Daintree, Far North Queensland). Grandfather of 12 and Great Grand Father of 17. Our deepest thanks to the marvelous staff at Sunset Rest Home and Hospital for their care of Dad. He was a true naval serviceman, railway enthusiast and a real gentleman. As per his wishes, a private cremation has taken place.
