Mum came and took him by the hand in the early hours of Sunday morning, 5 years to the day of her passing. Much loved father and father-in-law of Yvonne (deceased) and Graeme, Robert and Debbie, Michael and Helen, and Jayne and Stephen. Cherished Poppy to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dearly loved husband of the late Joan Cocks, and partner of the late Helen Stone. Dearly loved father of Sandra and Simon and father-in-law of Nicole. A dearly loved grandfather of Melissa, Tim, and Jayson, great-grandad of Thalia, Marshall and Izak, and Aubree. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Norma and Les Goodman (dec), Joan Hetherington (dec), Doreen Mott, Sandy and Ola Cocks, Ray and Trish Cocks, Jack and Averill Johnstone (dec), and Jean and John Hansen (dec). BYRNE Nicholas Terence, CDR, MBE (retired) (RN and RNZN) R21773 Joined 75 HAS CROSSED THE BAR 18-4-22. After a long battle with ill health, Nick passed away peacefully in the palliative care ward at Robina hospital on the Gold Coast in the early hours of the morning. He now joins his very good friend LTCDR Derek Swann retired who crossed the bar in February last year.
MUTCH Ken Mervyn (Ken). Lieutenant Commander RNZN 16061. Joined Jan 57 as JSA. Born March 29, 1940. On 12 April 2022 at North Shore Hospital aged 82 years. Dearly loved Husband of Sandra and loved Father of Karl, Steven and Lucy. Father in law to Shona. Will be missed by Joanne, and grandchildren Laura, Georgia, Sophie, Stephen, Sophia and her mother Jessica. A service for Ken will be held at Holy Trinity Devonport, Tuesday 19th April 2022 at 11:00 am.

STUART, Wayne Thomas (Blue) CPOMA NZ18537. Joined May 65. Also served on Kiama. 12 months with the Medical Team in Vietnam. Admitted to ICU a week ago, all looked promising on Wednesday, he was responding to the treatment then Thursday night at 2200 (local) he was gone in Wollongong hospital. Absolutely gutted, he was just more than a very dear friend. Great memories are never forgotten.
HOWE, Rex William. Born October 16, 1920. Chief Petty Officer RNZN 10844 On Saturday 19 March 2022 at CHT Waiuku, in his 102nd year, after a brief illness and bravely fought battle Rex passed away. Dearly loved husband of the late Dora Yela and treasured father of Glenis. Well respected and much-loved son-in-law of David. A very loving Papa to Andreas, George, and Grace and great grandfather to Hugo. Forever in our hearts! Special thanks to all the staff at CHT Waiuku for their love and kindness. WARIN, Trevor Selwyn, Petty Officer S/No. 6336 Born 14 October 1926 Trevor joined the RNZN on 10 December 1942, entering as a Seaman Boy 2nd Class. Served in HMNZS Leander, HMNZS Achilles with the British Pacific Fleet in the North Pacific and Japan, HMNZS Bellona and HMNZS Hawea, coming off before she was sent to Korea. He was discharged in March 1952. Trevor passed on 15 March 2022. Dearly beloved son of Wilfred and Kathleen Warin, father of Nigel – Navy and professional Engineer – and husband to Marian for 67 years. Funeral details to be advised.
