Jack Passings – June 2024

BAKEN, Raymond RNZN9110 (Gambia). Passed peacefully on Sunday 2nd June 2024 at Riverstone Retirement Care Home, aged 96 years. Cherished by and devoted to his wife June for 68 years. Much loved and proud father of Wesley (deceased), Priscilla (deceased) and Andrew France, Christine and David Prattley, Allister and Carolyn, Don and Margaret Anne. Honoured friend to Angus. Loving grandfather to Hadassa and Tony, Madison, Ezra, Josiah, Michal, Leah, Hana, Talia, and Destiny, and great-grandfather to Evelyn. The family thanks the Riverstone staff for their skilled and compassionate care for Ray. A service to celebrate Ray’s Promotion to Glory will be held at the Salvation Army on Church Street at 12.15 pm on Friday 7th June. DAWSON, Eric Keith. (No. NZ 15066 RNZN Malayan Emergency, The Suez Crisis, Operation Grapple, the Far East Strategic Reserve; Radio Communication Operator, 2nd Class) On June 5, 2024, peacefully at North Shore Hospital, aged 86 years. Dearly loved husband of Mary for 65 years. Loved father of Tony, Michael, Mark, and Shelley. Father-in-law to Lyn. Grandad to his 11 grandchildren and Great Grandad to his 4 great-grandchildren. A Service to celebrate Eric’s life will be held at the East Coast Bays Chapel of Forrest Funeral Services, 8 Glen Rd, Browns Bay on Tuesday 11 June at 1.30pm to be followed by a private cremation.

RUSCOE, Colin Walter David (Nick). RNZN 11557. Died peacefully at 10.46pm on 21 June 2024 at North Shore Hospital, three weeks shy of 95 years old. TYREE, Mervyn William. LME NZ15801 RNZN. Passed away peacefully at Strathallan Lifecare, Timaru on Thursday, 27 June 2024; aged 85 years. Dearly loved father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many in New Zealand and Australia. The Service celebrating Merv’s life will be held at Aoraki Funeral Services Chapel, 160 Mountain View Road, Timaru on Wednesday, 3 July 2024 at 11 am, followed by an interment in the Timaru Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Royal NZ Naval Association of South Canterbury would be much appreciated and may be left at the service. WATSON, Allan Douglas (RNZN NZ16930). On 24th of June 2024, passed away peacefully at Auckland City Hospital, aged 80. Loved husband of Leonie. Step-father to Michael. Brother-in-law to Sheryl, and loved uncle to Jason and Jacqui. A dedicated community member of the Salvation Army, loved friend and community member to many. The family will hold a funeral service at Grange Manor Chapel of Davis Funeral, 400 Dominion Road, Mt Eden on Saturday 29th June at 10.30am.
