⚓️BALLOCH, Kenneth Neil (Neil) NZ15442 ABSEA Gunner Op Grapple-ROTOITI.
Passed away peacefully at Nelson Hospital on Friday, January 3, 2025, aged 87 years. Loved husband of the late Margaret. Father of Wayne, Maree and Kim. A special thank you to Nelson Hospital, Nelson Hospice, St John Ambulance and all of Neil’s family, friends and neighbours for their care and support. A funeral to celebrate Neil’s life will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 1 Trafalgar Square, Nelson on Friday, January 10 commencing at 1.00pm, followed by private cremation. A livestream of Neil’s service will be available on Nelson Cathedral you tube channel. At Neil’s request serviceman to wear medals please. Msgs c/- 41 Nile St East, Nelson.

⚓️HALIDAY, Peter “Doc” R21244 ABSEA passed away at Wellington Hospital.
Peter had been suffering from Cancer for several months. Originally living in the Bay of Islands we brought him to Wellington so that he could properly be cared for. He lost his wife of 35 years just prior to Christmas and he now has achieved what he wanted- to be with her. He was my brother-in-law and will be sadly missed. Fair winds and calm seas bro. RIP.
He will be cremated in Wellington and his ashes together with those of his wife will be scattered/ buried in Russell.

⚓️MACKLE, John Francis Connolly. RNZN Q100248 Chief Petty Officer SHIPWRIGHT (Rtd).
On 13 January 2025 peacefully at Forrest Hill Home and Hospital. Dearly loved husband of Pauline (nee Mullane). Much loved father and father-in-law of Emmett and Barbara, Gerard and Ngaire, Philip and Edna, and Claire and Karl. Adored Pop of Gemma, Ben, Jon, Alex – Aidan, Caleb, Maria, Shannon, Bridget, Rebecca – Paige, Chantelle – Genevieve and Lachlan. Dearly loved brother of Tony Mackle (recently deceased). Special thanks to Forrest Hill Home and Hospital, R&R Total Mobility Glenfield, and Harbour Hospice North Shore for their wonderful care of John. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for John at St Joseph’s Church (10 Dominion Street, Takapuna) on Saturday, 18 January, at 10:30 am, followed by a private cremation.

⚓️O’REILLY-NUGENT Trevor Charles ex-RNZN TEL NZ16029 OP GRAPPLE-PUKAKI DOB 12.1.40 Joined 1/57. HMNZS Pukaki, Grapple veteran and GCSB employee. Retired Public Servant.
On January 28th, 2025, passed away peacefully at Bupa Crofton Downs aged 85 years. Companion, soulmate and husband of the late Barbara June O’Reilly-Nugent. Much loved father of Cassandra, James and Sally-Ann. Cherished father-in-law of Michael, Petrina, and Dave. Dearly loved grandfather of Nia, Maya, Bella and Finn. Much loved brother and brother-in-law of the late Rodney, Rayna and David, Brian and Rosemary, Sally and Richard, and the late Eddie. A service to celebrate Trevor’s Life will be held in Gee and Hickton’s Guardian Chapel, Auty Lane, Porirua, at 11am on Tuesday 4th February, followed by a private cremation.

⚓️PETERSEN, Mervyn Charles, NZ 14187 Able Seaman. Of Levin.
On 9 January 2025, at The Madison Care Home. Aged 88 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Julia. Loved son of the late Cecil and Amy Petersen. Loving father to Barbara & Darrell, Michael (dec), Michelle, Tania & Malcolm, Lisa & Joseph, and Wendy & Kawiti. Adored grandad to his 21 grandchildren and great-grandad to 14 and great-great-grandad to 1. A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at The Madison Care Home for their care. In accordance with Mervyn’s wishes, a private family service has taken place. Messages to the Petersen family, c/- 284 Oxford Street, Levin 5510.

⚓️ROBERTSON Patrick R.G.P. (Critter) J20225 ABSEA
Gunner Joined 1/7 Sad News in this morning of the passing of Patrick Robertson aka ‘Critter! One of the original fleet pool Baywatch lifeguards. Critter always made time to chat and spin a dit. He probably would have jumped in to save you even if you weren’t drowning Of course, he was much more than just the ‘pool guy’. He was also an Honorary Assistant PTI and a good friend to many.
RIP Critter. Those close to Pat have requested a small service.

⚓️SHERIFF, Robert James (Robbie) RNZN S/No. NZ18459 Joined 65 as a MIDSHIPMAN.
Robbie passed away on New Years Day 1 January 2025 aged 76 years, after a battle with Motor Neuron Disease. Loved son of Ron and Sylvia (both deceased). Brother of John (deceased) and Paddy, Allan and Vicky, Gayle and Tom, Karen (Australia), and Warwick and Fiona (Australia). Remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends. Thank you to Robbie’s carers at Kiri Te Kanawa Village, Gisborne and Linda Jones Village, Hamilton. A private cremation has been held as Robbie requested. Messages to: rjsheriff01012025 @outlook.com

Passed away peacefully with his adored wife, Janet at his side on Sunday, 5 January 2025. Aged 88 years. Father of Leslee and Paul. Grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Special friend of Lisa and Tim. A service for Richard will be held at the Hamilton Park Chapel, Hamilton Park Cemetery, Newstead on Wednesday, 15 January, at 11.00am.
