NOLAN, Simon Andrew Ex NZ Navy. It is with great sadness that we advise of Simon’s passing at ”CHT Bernadette Hospice” Mt Maunganui, on December 14, 2018. Treasured only son of Stewart (Stew) and loved stepson of Trish. Much loved brother of Michelle, and loved son of Janet. Simon was a much loved nephew and cousin, and treasured grandson of the late Cliff and June Nolan (Temuka). As per Simon’s wishes he has been cremated. Memorial details to follow. FOX, Maurice Frederick: W3658, Leading Seaman, RNZVR, WWII. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday 5th December 2018, aged 97, at Stokeswood Rest Home and Hospital, in the presence of family. Husband of the late Josie. Father and father-in-law of Maureen and Alex Rodger; Keith and Jenny; Gary and Sharon. Grandfather to 8 and Great-Grandfather to 17. Thanks to the staff of Stokeswood for their loving care for the last 6 years. A private family service has been held.

WIN, Neville Ross (Nev) H11338 Captain RNZN. 15 July 1931 to 8 December 2018. Aged 87. Enlisted RNZN 13 April 1947 retired 13 April 1982 died peacefully at Somerset Retirement Village Upper Hutt after a short illness. Neville had no family and the Navy was his life, he will be missed dearly by all his friends old and young alike. Neville recieved the following medals The NZ Operational Medal, British Service Medal Korea 1951, United Nations Service Medal Korea 1951, Confrontation 1964 – 66 “Malaya Peninsula”, Malayan Emergency 1948 – 60 ” Malaya”, RNZN Long Service Medal and Clasp, Korean War Service Medal ( issued by Korean Govt 50 Years after the War) Pingat Jasa Malaysia, NZ Defence Service Medal. We know he captained HMNZS Wellington at some point.

HARGREAVES, Maraea Rahiri. Ex -Wren WRNZNS service No. 955. Life member of the Birkenhead RSA. Mum sadly and peacefully passed away at home with whanau on the 4th of December, 2018. So glad you were able to celebrate your 84th birthday! Beloved daughter of the late Henare and Ngahina Taiaki. Dearly loved wife of the late Allan. Adored mother of Mannie, Manu, Sally and the late Wiremu and loved sister of Georgie and Honey and the late Newha, Mina, Mary, Ake and Ty. With 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren mum’s cup overflows with love. Take your place in heaven mum amongst all our other angels who will welcome you with open arms. It’s been a privilege mum we all love you very much. A service will be held at the Birkenhead RSA Clubrooms, Recreation Drive, Birkenhead, on Monday the 10th of December at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at the North Shore Memorial Park Cemetery. SMITH, William James Lanyon: DSO, OBE, Commander RNZN retired. Peacefully at home on 2nd December aged 96 years. Willy to his late wife Natalie, Bill to his friends and ‘Kiwi’ to his war comrades. Loved by his daughter Victoria (Gubb) & Mike Daniel, family and especially great-granddaughter Lily Jones (the apple of his eye). Special thanks to all his caregivers, doctor and hospice staff.
