Loved father and father-in-law of Sandra and Peter, Aenone and John, Bill (deceased) and Philippa, and John and Cheryl. Loved step dad (Uncle John) of Maron and Ian, and Cedric and Sheryl. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at St Columba’s Presbyterian Church, 176 Gloucester Street, Taradale, Napier on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 2pm. Followed by a private cremation. STUBBS, Lovey (nee Paul). Born January 24, 1953. Passed away on April 24, 2017. Stubbs, Lovey (U28676 Wren Lovey Paul RNZN), passed away at home in Hastings surrounded by her family, after a short and difficult battle with cancer. Loving wife of Stu, mother of Tane and Marama; respected mother-in-law of Stuart and Sandra; and loved grandmother of Kelsey, Liam, Boston and Logan. In accord with Lovey’s wishes a private family funeral was held on 29 April in Hastings. Grateful thanks for the support of Totara Health, Villa 6 of Hastings Hospital and Cranford Hospice.

LAWSON, Gerald James (Gerry). PO. Royal New Zealand Navy. Regtl No.17162. Passed away peacefully at Aparangi Residential Unit on 26th April 2017, aged 74 years. Loving husband and best friend of Sandra. Proud and caring father, father-in-law and grandfather of Carl, Melissa, Ethan, Ryley and Brianna, Neil, Justine and Zane, Greg, Lucy, Conor, Kirsty, Jack, Kate, Mae and Ellen, Jared, Kristy, Jessica, Holly, Liam, Marcos and Leah. Special thanks to Julie Woodman-Neil for the personal and professional support that she has given Gerald and Sandra. She has been their rock. Dearly loved husband of the late Margaret, father of Peter, Sarah, and David, grandfather of Christy, Janina, Joyia, Eli and Tineke, and great- grandfather of Theo and Libby. Peacefully (after a short illness), at the Booms Lodge, Thames, on 14th April, 2017; 13 days short of his 92nd birthday. Dearly loved husband for the past 65 years of Nola, loved father of Jan and Lloyd, and David and Jenny. Loved Pop of Michael, Hilaire, and Simon. BARLEY, Alan Vernon On April 6, 2017, aged 94 years. Passed away peacefully at Ngaio Marsh. Dearly loved husband of the late Merle. Dearly loved father and friend of Graeme and Jenny, Ray, David and Debbie, and Jude and Grant. Dearly loved grandpa of Seymour, Flynn, Hanna and Milo and dearly loved great-grandpa of Ella. Life Member of the Canterbury Eagles Golfing Society. The Canterbury Golf Referees Association. The Christchurch High School Old Boys’ Association. The Christchurch RSA and the Russley Golf Club. All speak to a life well lived. Alan was blessed with a full life that took him around the world on active service in the Army and Royal NZ Navy during WW2 to a respected career as a Master at Christchurch Boys’ High School. He was also a talented pianist and Barbershop Quartet vocalist who brought hours of pleasure to all who were fortunate enough to hear him play or sing.
