TWYMAN, Brian Sydney Sadly, we must announce that Lieutenant Brian Twyman RNZN (retired) passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Friday 28th September 2018. Brian had been in hospital for some months but was discharged on Wednesday to travel to his new home closer to family in Auckland. Husband to Susan, father to Philip, Chris and Sam, Melanie, grandfather to Rachel, Bradley and Jonathan. We are all very sad that he didn’t have longer to enjoy this new part of his adventure, but we are grateful that he has found rest after a long battle with illness. A funeral service will be held on Thursday 4th October at 11.30am at St Andrews Presbyterian Church (in the old chapel). 11 Vincent Street (on the corner of Vincent Street and Ridge Road), Howick, Auckland. A reception to follow, then a private interment.
ANDERSON, Edwin Alexander (Ed). Reg No 10103. Chief Petty Officer. RNZN. 1939 – 1945. Passed away peacefully in Jane Winstone, on 29 September 2018, aged 93 years. Most beloved husband of Pat for 66 years. Cherished Dad of Larry and Ann (Brisbane), the late Stephen and Cherie, John and Odette (Whakatane), Mark and Sharon (Brisbane), the late Jane and David Corney. Adored and loved Grandy of his 14 grand children and 6 great grandchildren. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held in the Cleveland Chapel, 179 Ingestre Street, Wanganui on Thursday 4 October 2018, at 1:30pm. Followed by private cremation.

BINES, Alan Frederick QSM Service No 11202 Steward RNZN/Lance Bombardier NZ Army, Passed away peacefully on Sunday 16 September 2018. Dearly loved husband of Joyce and much loved by his family. The family would like to thank the staff at Cantabria for their special care of Alan. Donations to the Rotorua Community Hospice Trust would be appreciated and may be left at the service. As per his wishes Alan has been privately cremated and a memorial celebration and acknowledgement will be held at The Rotorua Bowling Club, Government Gardens, Hinemoa Street, on Wednesday 19 September at 11 am.

Bereavement Panui on behalf of Jayne Wardell, regarding the loss of her beloved Partner, Te Pokiha Hiini (Tom), who sadly passed away on Saturday the 15th in Auckland. Matua Tom is currently laying in state at the whanau whare on Waiheke Island. The whanau have advised that the funeral service will take place on Wednesday the 19th at the Waiheke Sport Club followed by a graveside burial at the Onetangi Lawn Cemetery.

Beloved husband of Carol (nee Hallam), dearly loved father and father-in-law of Brenda and Roy Norgrove, Gary and Natasha (Perth), Trish Poolman, and the late Rick and Keith. Dearly loved Poppa Dick of Richard, Alannah, Logan, Bryce, Cleveland and Lily, and great- grand Poppa Dick of Baylee. Underneath are the Everlasting Arms. SMITH Alexander George (Alec) On September 7, 2018, Alec passed away peacefully at Resthaven, aged 88 years. Beloved husband and soulmate of the late Cora. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Sarah and Phil, Haidee and Brad, Stewart and Lynda. Much loved and respected granddad of Leah and Pippa, Sam and Raine, Andie and Carrie, and much loved by his younger brother Noel.
