History of the Poppy in New Zealand

Why does NZ wear poppies on ANZAC day when Australia and England wear them on November 11th?
It took a lot of getting but it turns out that when the poppy was adopted as a symbol of sacrifice, in 1921 or 22, NZ ordered poppies from somewhere in Europe and they did not arrive until after November 11th.  Rather than wait until the next November, NZ decided to issue them on ANZAC day instead.
Result is that NZ is out of step in when poppies should be worn.  Poppies come from that great poem, “ In Flanders field etc” and are about WW1 in Europe, while ANZAC day is all about Gallipoli.
