Get-together New Plymouth

By now you will have seen that the RNZNCA Communicators Reunion has been cancelled due to concerns around the Omicron virus.

There are however a number of communicators and their partners who still intend to meet up in New Plymouth on the same weekend and at the same hotel. Some of you may remember this occurred last year when the reunion was postponed. There will obviously be no official programme however we may be able to gather for a Friday evening catchup and meal on Saturday if members are keen.

To date, the following have indicated that they will attend this Get-together.

Frank & Laurie RANDS
Neal & Mary Ann CATLEY
Chris & Joan FARROW
Chris & Julie BOND
Stan FOSTER
Bob & Yvonne OHLSON
Brian & Bronwyn CHAMBERS
Jan & Don WILLS
Gary & Anne HINE
George & Jackie RANDALL
Rod & Dearne BERRY
David & Maggie WISTRAND
Kevin & Margaret POLLARD
Jude STEVENS
Julie PETLEY
Ernie & Elaine KOCH
Trevor APPLETON
Philip ASPINALL

Others are still considering their options.

    • Frank we now have a puppy arriving Sat 9 Apr so will be cancelling our journey to New Plymouth. I am sure you will all have a great time.

  • Makes one wonder whether the thing should have been cancelled in first place !

Your Committee was between a ‘rock and a hard place’ as our Reunion providers had given us until 17 January 2022 to confirm whether or not the Reunion was proceeding. Should we have cancelled after this date, your Association may have incurred significant costs that were unrecoverable.
In their COVID announcement on 17 January 2022, Central Government gave no clear direction on their long term plan to manage COVID. Accordingly, your Association Committee was left with little option but to cancel our 2022 Reunion.
Throughout our Reunion decision making processes, our thoughts were always around the health and safety of our members and of course the costs members would also personally incur on the late cancellation of travel, accommodation etc.
It goes without saying that we were acutely aware that the cancellation would come as a disappointment to many.

  • My Humble apology to you Rodney, Dearne & anyone else involved in our Comms 2022 Reunion / get-together for my recent comment . A bit sarky perhaps and I take it all back on smacked hand!
    Cheers!

Realise nothing can be organised formally but Maggie and I are travelling from Waipu on the 7th. Is a seven hour journey so thought we would stop somewhere for the night and drive to New Plymouth on the 8th. So thought anyone else doing the same might want to meet up on the night of the 7th for a meal etc (etc is sailors chat for a beer or two). So where. Look at the map and Mokau seems a likely place a couple of Motels and somewhere to eat, but willing to listen to other ideas. So if this seems like you let me know. 0223182210 or reply here so can get booking’s done etc or reply to this
    cheers

    • Hi Dave
Not sure if you are taking your motorhome to NP or not but we are taking ours. Staying at the Fitzroy Motorhome Park. Leaving home on the 6th and plan to overnight it on the 6th at either the Tainui-Wetere Domain just south of Mokau or at the Three Sisters POP at Tongaporutu – wxer dependent. Arriving NP on 7th.

We are booked at Mokau Motel on the 7th Thursday arriving Friday 8th. Pity about that. No longer have a motor home just do motels
