Eulogies – Communication Personnel CTB
CAMPBELL, Jack, Warrant Officer, Yeoman of Signals, served in the Royal New Zealand Navy ashore and afloat for more than two decades, giving his time, talent, and sharp mind to every posting he undertook. An astute man who had an exceptional grasp of his trade and an instinctive understanding of people. Jack carried himself with quiet authority, the kind earned through experience, consistency, and an unwavering sense of duty. As a people manager, Jack was known for being strict but always fair. Beyond the uniform, he was very much a man’s man – steady, loyal, and deeply grounded in family and friendship. His absence will be felt keenly, but his influence will live on in the stories shared, the lessons remembered, and the values passed down. It’s now time to kick-start your heavenly career, Jack. May fair winds and following seas always be your friend.
HARTLEY, Gregory Wyeth, T18210, Chief Petty Officer Radio Supervisor.
Eulogy from Neal Catley
Although I did not have the opportunity to work alongside Greg, I know from the many tributes shared that he will be long remembered by all who knew him for far more than his uniform.
The passing of Greg marks the loss of a man whose character and commitment will leave a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Greg’s many years of distinguished service in the Royal New Zealand Navy were notable in every sense of the word. He served not for recognition, but from a deep sense of duty. That quiet strength earned him the respect of his colleagues and many friends at the Birkenhead RSA, who will fondly remember his integrity, humour, and unwavering standards.
For Greg’s life of remarkable service to his country: PIPE THE SIDE!
