Christchurch Earthquake Apeal – HMNZS CANTERBURY

HMNZS Canterbury (F421) Association have decided that their funds be used as follows:

It has been proposed that an account be opened to receive donations for an Earthquake Fund from ex Canterbury (F421) Officers and Men the proceeds of which to be donated to the Christchurch Mayors Relief Fund and the account closed.

From Canterbury’s arrival in August 1971 to its departure in March 2005 after 34 years of service, F421 always had the support of the Christchurch City Council, sponsors, other Christchurch organisations, and the public of Christchurch. So now it is our turn to give something back to the community.

There is already an account in being which currently holds a residual from the 2005 Final Reunion which stands at $2151.99. This was to be used to kick start the now cancelled 2011/2012 reunion. This account will be donated to the Christchurch Mayors Relief Fund in it entirety and the account closed at a date yet to be determined
