This book written by UK award winning investigative journalist ALAN RIMMER gives an accurate, informative and entertaining account of the infamous 1950’s UK atomic and hydrogen bomb testing programme in Australia and the Mid Pacific.
Official documents acquired under the Freedom of Information Act and elsewhere, assistance from UK statistician John Urquart and Nuclear scientist John Large and others, have helped in Alan Rimmer’s years of research in bringing this book together.
This new information gives a lie to the assurances that the UK Government and Ministry of Defence have for over fifty years peddled claiming that none of the New Zealand, UK, Australian, Canadian, and Fijian servicemen involved were harmed by nuclear radiation.  This lie is made worse by the MoD’s claim that no genetic problems have affected the ongoing off-spring of the servicemen involved.  Indeed this book has been dedicated by the author to the generations of children that will be born in the next 900+ years and who will carry on the genetic damage legacy.
In a New Zealand Massey University ‘Cyto-Genetic Analysis’, many New Zealand navalmen crewing the HMNZS Pukaki and Rotoiti which acted  as weather ships, submarine detection, air/sea rescue, patrolling the dangerous exclusion zone, showed results of chromosome damage in excess of the Chernobyl clean-up workers. The New Zealand ships were bizarrely ordered to sail through Ground Zero the point of the nuclear detonation, and beneath the predicted fallout patterns. During pre-contract discussions, the research lead scientist, Professor Al Rowland had warned the New Zealand Nuclear Test Veteran’s Association Chairman Roy Sefton, that 50 years after the event it would be unlikely that evidence of any DNA damage would be found.  Shocked at the damage revealed, Professor Rowland concludes that the DNA damage can only be caused by exposure to Radiation at the Operation Grapple mid-Pacific nuclear testing Ground.
