Another one to test the Brain
Here is an image of a group of young Tels from Feb 1949, but who are they?
Ray Thompson, Tom Innes, Keith Kennedy, Ian Worthington, ????? POTel McCann and Sub Lt Goodwin.
Keith Kennedy sent this to Albie Cross just before he passed away. Albie thinks that Rob Thompson may be the only surviving member of this group. Cyril McCann was drafted to ZLO after this class passed out. He was a talented singer and had taken place in a number of talent contests during his naval career. His show-biz name was “Tony”. (he said that with a name like Cyril, who would want to be associated with Cyril (dreaming of thee) Fletcher Do you blame him ?. Tubby Glass knicknamed Ian Worthington (“Knux”) short for knuckles. On his first draft to ZLO we played a game of Rugby against the Army up at their camp. Someone copped Ian with a bunch of fives but he did not retaliate only got a good look at the number on his back. A ruck or maul formed close to the sideline where Tub Glass was standing and whilst everyone else had the heads down and backsides up, Ian was searching for that number and when it was located let fly with sledge hammer blow right between the shoulder blades. AH, sweet retribution. From that moment on he was known as “Knux”
