RNZN Women's Association and 2012 Reunion

Each year the RNZNWA organise a regional AGM in April, a national AGM in August, a Christmas Lunch and a Church Service and of course they do ANZAC Day.  Every four years they organise a reunion (although for some special reason they had one two years ago). Involvement in the RNZNWA is not huge and they have just elected their office holders and Committee for this year.  The RNZNWA has branches all over NZ so not just for those living in Auckland.
There is a National reunion in Auckland in 1-3 June.  This is for any ex RNZN women to attend and you don’t have to be a member of the RNZNWA.  There will be particular events where they will be wearing their medals and the post WW2 ex WRENS are excited about receiving the Service Medal in recognition.  There are about 16 x WW2 WRENS attending the Reunion of the 100 ladies registered to attend so far.
The reunion events are as follows.  You need to register and pay to attend but just to give you an idea of what they are doing here it is.
Friday 1 June – Beat the Retreat at the Navy Museum – they are unveiling a Women’s Exhibition that will run for three months.  They ask all women attending the Museum event to bring a black and white 6×4 photo of themselves in Navy uniform.  It needs to be a portrait or if you only have a class photo – you can get one made up of just you.  These photos will form part of the exhibition and you will be in the Museum!  More details if you need them. Cost is $10 per head and partners are welcome to attend.  The cost is for the supper.  After this some of the ladies are going to the Birkenhead RSA for drinks.
Saturday 2 June – Dinner at the Novotel.  Capt Corina Bruce is attending as guest speaker.  Cost for the dinner is only around $55.
Sunday 3 June – There is a church Service at the DNB Chapel.
The Museum Exhibition was originally priced at $30K but due to the WRNZS conducting their own research and putting many personal hours into it,  they managed to do it for well under that quote.  They had to raise these funds as well.
