The Black Map – Liquefaction

It is no wonder that Christchurch is sadly so stricken with ‘Liquefaction’.  John B has provided what he calls ‘The Black Map  of 1856’  It clearly shows that the whole of Christchurch is built on a swamp.  Please note that Railway and Streets shown on the map have been added for location purposes and are not necessarily streets surveyed or existing in 1856.  You can veiw the map by clicking HERE.  Thanks John B for the contribution.
