RNZN Communication Training School North Head

North Head (Maungauika) is a volcanic headland and historic fort in Auckland.
From 1958 the coast artillery was disbanded, and the Navy took over part of the summit. They ran a Communications Training School there, along with other training facilities.
The communications training included things like wireless telegraph (W/T), signal stations, and issues of naval communications infrastructure.
The Navy finally left the summit in 1996.
So essentially, for several decades (roughly 1958–1996), North Head functioned as a RNZN communications training site. After that, the Navy moved out, and the site is now part of the North Head Historic Reserve, managed by the Department of Conservation.
The training school is no longer active at North Head as of 1996. Nowadays, North Head is a historic reserve and tourist spot, offering walks, old forts, tunnels, vantage
