Jack Passings – October 2024

⚓️BARNETT, John Trevor RNZN, NZ11415 Joined as BOY2 4/46Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, 3 October 2024, in his 94th year. Much loved and loving husband of the late Tui. Loved father and father-in-law of Brian and Jacqueline, Murray and Robyn, Sharon and Nigel, Roger and Debbie (deceased), Allen (deceased) and Barbara (deceased). Adored Poppa and Opa of Damien, Rebecca, Joey, Brad, Hannah and Brad, Tina, Haydyn, Caleb, Izzy, and their families. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at St Andrews Anglican Church, 85 Hamilton Road, Cambridge on Thursday, 10 October, at 1.00pm.

⚓️DAVIES, James Cyril Lancaster, CDR NZ10969 WWII Korea. Discharged 9-3-45 Re-joined 2/50.  On October 4, 2024, peacefully in his recent home at Bob Scott Retirement Village; aged 98 years. Beloved husband of Nerole for 63 years. Wonderful father and father-in-law of Jane & Dave (dec), Jenny & Peter, James & Loretta, Richard & Mel, Peter & Natalie. Loving grandfather of Nick, Tessa, Matthew, Molly, Jemma, Tom and Lucy. Brother of the late Tom. Husband of Bevely (nee Shanks) who tragically died in 1960. In lieu of flowers donations to The Family Centre in Lower Hutt would be appreciated and can be made online at familycentre.org.nz. A service for Jim will be held in St James Anglican Church, Woburn Road, Lower Hutt, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 1.00pm. and thereafter private cremation. ⚓️DAVIS, John Richard. Navy veteran On Sunday, October 6th, 2024, John Richard Davis, long-time resident of Birkdale, gardener and scone afficionado returned to the loving embrace of his long-lost wife, Glennis. He was surrounded by love in the home he raised his family in. John leaves behind three loving children. Richard, Sue, Craig and son-in-law Rob. Three grandchildren, Hannah, John, and Shannon and two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Molly. He will be desperately, constantly missed. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Wha ward of Totara Haumaru at North Shore Hospital. Geneva Healthcare, in particular Ana Palei, Home Instead, Marissa and Wayne from Birkdale Pharmacy and the incredible paramedics and team from St Johns for their support and care. John will be resting at home from Tuesday 8th October, prior to a private cremation.

⚓️Millar, Glen Ross “Dusty” Lieutenant Commander, a friend to everyone, died on October 2nd, 2024, at the age of 74.  Dusty served in the Royal New Zealand Navy from 1967 to 1987. In 1985 he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday honors he was recognized and awarded as “Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.)” for his work as editor of the RNZN Navy News. During his 20 years of service, Lieutenant Commander Millar earned a reputation as a professional engineer, skilled administrator and sympathetic personnel manager.
Dusty became an American citizen in 2013.

⚓️VINCENT, Natasha (LMED Tash Gill, Intake Sep 2001). On October 4, 2024, peacefully at Hospice Marlborough surrounded by her family, aged 40 years. Much loved and treasured wife of Josh and a loved and loving Mum of Isaac and Ava. Dearly beloved daughter of Jennifer and loved by her sisters, Ngaia, Renee and Paula. A much loved member of the extended Vincent family and cherished by her many friends and wider family. A celebration of Natasha’s life will be held at the Springlands Chapel, Cloudy Bay Funeral Services, 15 Boyce Street Blenheim on Tuesday, October 8 at 2.00pm, followed by private cremation.
