Precious soulmate of the late Valerie for 70 years. Treasured father of Trish, Clare, Brenda, Matthew and Julia. Loved father-in-law, Grandad of 14 and Great- Grandad of 20. HOWELL, John Alexander. SIG, S/No. NZ10561, RNZN, WW2. Peacefully in the presence of family at Whanganui Hospital on Sunday 5 February 2023, aged 95. Forever loved and always remembered father of Pamela (deceased), Carolyn, Bronwyn (deceased), John, Paul, Chris, and Darryn. Wonderful “Pop” of 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who will always remember him fondly. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held in St Stephen’s Anglican Church, 23 Maunder Street, Marton on Monday 13th February at 1.30 pm followed by private cremation. MORTEN, Derek: FAA, WW2, NZ3980, LT(A) DSC MID, RNZN On February 5, 2023, aged 101 years. Dearly loved husband of Pamela, loved father and father-in-law of Rowen, David (deceased), Peter and Rachel, and Paul and Anna, much loved grandfather of Anthony, Paul, and Julia; Melanie, Jessica, Nicholas, and James (deceased), and Kate; much loved great-grandfather of Ysabel and Rocco; Mackenzie and Juno; and Zoe and Nina. Special thanks to the staff at Arvida Park Lane who have cared for Derek over the past four years. SEARS, Alice Joy (Joy): (nee Foster). Previously Alice Joy Matson. WRNZNS ex-WREN 599. Born November 11, 1926. Passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Ken and much-loved mum and mother-in-law of Anita and Garry, Donna and the late Steve, Logan and Jane, and Euan and Tracy. Adored big sister and sister-in-law of Terry and Marilyn, and the late Ken and Jean, David and Nancy. Loved Nana of Tanya, Carlie, David, Scott, Josie, Jack, and Finn. Great grandmother of seven. A long life well lived. According to Joy’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place.
ANDERSON Alexander (Andy) regret to advise the passing of Alexander (Andy) Anderson, ex MEA1, 33 class Art/App (1967) and later Marine engineer with Union Steam Ship Company. He passed away quietly yesterday (2 Feb) in the company of his family after a long fight with cancer that started in 2019. The funeral for Andy will be held at Schnapper Rock Cemetery, Albany at 1 pm this Tuesday, 7 February 2023.
