Great to see the RNZN comms web-site up and working again.
Re Laurie Prentice,I worked him at NR1 when it first started up. He was quite a character – I can still see him lighting a cigarette (a roll your own and, more often than not, of pipe tobacco) using his matchbox to push the lighted tobacco back into the paper with the result that bits of hot tobacco would fall on his sweater. Consequently he had quite a few holes in his sweaters! He built himself a house in Waiouru township and, after leaving pussers, set himself up as a general carrier and workman for hire. He and Bill Luscombe often worked together.
