Jack Passings – August 2021

HOME, William Harry. LEM S/No 15888, RNZN 1956-1967On Tuesday 31st August 2021 at North Shore Hospital, passed over peacefully surrounded by family. Beloved husband of the late Dorrien Home, father to the late Janet Kim Home and Raymond Home, adored poppa to the late Wana Hale and Jonina and great grandfather to many. He will be dearly missed\

LESLIE, Robert Allan (Allan). Naval Service Number 10037 On 26th August 2021, aged 95 years. Peacefully after a long life, well-lived and well-loved. Dearly loved Husband of the late Dot. Much loved Dad of Fay, Carolyn and Pat and respected Father-in-law of Rob. Very special Poppa Allan of all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. Rest easy Dad, your life’s work is done. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

McNALLY Lawrence Alexander Howard (Howard): 21.7.37 – 23.8.21. Died peacefully at Linda Jones Hospital. Beloved eldest son of the late Mike and Thelma McNally, Father of Andrew and Karen, Grandad of Liam, Finn and Katy. Brother of Geoffrey and the late Vivienne, the late Leslie and Nita, Michael and Jill. Uncle to Andrew, Fiona, Christine, Ian, Shane, Michaela, and their families. Don’t remember me with sadness, don’t remember me with tears, remember all the laughter we’ve shared throughout the years. Now I am contented that my life – it was worthwhile. Knowing that along the way, I made somebody smile. When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind, I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. So please don’t be unhappy just because I’m out of sight. Remember that I’m with you all each morning, noon and night. Due to Covid19 Level 4 restrictions, direct cremation has been undertaken.

MACINTOSH, Neil Anthony (Jock). Passed away 25 August 2021. Father of Sarah and Ian. A colleague of many in the RN and RNZN. An active member of the Katikati community. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. A farewell service will be held on the 3rd of September but is limited to invited persons..

CLANFIELD, Zelma Hazel. RNZN. Born May 14, 1924. Passed away peacefully on August 15, 2021, at Aria Gardens Hospital at 97 years of age. Loved daughter of the late Albert and Hilda. Dearly loved sister of her 3 siblings Noel, Doreen and Marjorie. Cherished Aunt of her many nieces and nephews. An amazing lady that has led an amazing life. Rest peacefully now and know that you are loved. A service will be held at the North Harbour Chapel of Dil’s Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany on Friday 20 August at 12:30 pm followed by private cremation.

RIGARLSFORD, Richard Orm (Dick): NZD 3048, Able Seaman Torpedo Man, RNZN.
Passed away peacefully at Sevenoaks Hospital on Saturday 14 August 2021. In his 99th year. Dearly loved husband for 74 years of the late Kath. Much loved father and father-in-law of Chris & Linda, Joy & Richard Berry, Peter & Carolyn, and Kevin & Toni. Loved Grandad of Brett, Wendy and Robert, Martyn, Gavin & Sarah, Becky & Mel, Karl, Michael & Katie, Sven & Jax, and Jacqui, and a loved Great-Grandad to his 11 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, 9-11 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu, on Thursday 19 August 2021 at 1.00 pm, thereafter private cremation. BEECHING, Helen: One of the last UK WRENS of WWII Helen passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Ernest Rutherford.. Treasured mother and mother-in-law of Doug and Anne, and a loved grandmother of Kerryn, Andrew and Diana. Great-Grandmother of Ellita. May the best you’ve ever seen, Be the worst ye’ll ever see’. To honour Helen’s wishes a private cremation has been held. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at a later date in Christchurch.

DUNN, Raymond: WWII RNZN No8555. Seaman. Passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021, aged 96 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Anita. Cherished father and father-in-law of Stuart and Jane, Robynn and Maurice. Treasured Poppa of Hayley, Susie, Richard, and Ashleigh. Adored Poppa Ray of Charlotte, and Genevieve, Ted, Rose, Jude, and Stella. We wish to sincerely thank Surita and the team at the Wood Retirement Village for their wonderful care of Ray. Your professionalism and compassion shown to Dad was second to none. Will be in our hearts forever, Rest in Peace now Dad. A Private Service has been held.

McINDOE, Jack Owen. NZ9737 TEL RNZN 1939 – 1945; Passed away peacefully after a short illness at Middlemore Hospital on 10 August 2021, Born in Waituhi near Taumarunui 31 May 1926. Loved father of Quentin (deceased), Carolyn, Colleen, stepfather to Susan and father-in-law to Don, Bill and Dave. Loved Grandad and Great Grandad to many. As per Jack’s wishes, a private cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.

MEEK, Mervyn Noel William: STO/MECH NZ11359 RNZN. Joined 1947 Peacefully at Resthaven Village, Gore, on Monday, August 9, 2021, in his 94th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Shirley, loved father and father-in-law of Pauline and *David Henderson, *Les, and John, loved Grandad, great-Grandad, great-great-Grandad of his grandchildren, and good friend of Brendan Potter. A private family service will be held. Mervyn’s family sincerely thank Gore Medical Centre, Gore Hospital and the lovely staff of Resthaven for their care of Mervyn. The service to celebrate Glynn’s life will be held at the Rotorua Crematorium Chapel, Sala Street, Rotorua on Thursday 12th August at 1 pm followed by burial. Joined May 68. Passed away peacefully at home in Rotorua on 8th August 2021, aged 70 years. Dearly loved husband of Deborah. Loved father of Glynn and Carl. The service to celebrate Glynn’s life will be held at the Rotorua Crematorium Chapel, Sala Street, Rotorua on Thursday 12th August at 1 pm followed by burial.

STERRITT, Wilton (Bill): RNZN 4585, AB (Radar) Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Charles Upham Retirement Village, in his 98th year. Dearly loved by his late wife Marjorie. Loved father of Vonnie, Kathleen, and Heather. Father-in-law of Stanley Barnett.
