{A lifetime of continuous service with the Royal New Zealand Navy and the Government Communications Security Bureau admired Pire for what he represented – a determination to succeed, humility, an innate sense of fair play, and a tremendous sense of professional service to New Zealand throughout his long and distinguished career at home and abroad.
Pire’s people management skills and work ethic values were strong – they are timeless – and they will endure. It was, indeed, a pleasure and privilege to have had the opportunity to work with you.
Pire, a man who I am proud to be able to call my friend, rest in peace}.
A great shipmate and an absolute privilege to have served with Pire on Otago..
