Our programmed sailing aboard the William C Daldy on Thursday remains in place.

NZDF advised at 1506 NZDT 15 November that:  Due to operational requirements, in part the emergency response to the Kaikoura earthquake relief, the Navy is bringing the fleet entry forward to tomorrow Wednesday, instead of Thursday as planned.

However, a number of ships including HMNZS Canterbury, Wellington, USS Sampson and one other South East Asian helicopter support ship are currently making their way down the east coast to assist in the evacuation and support of Kaikoura.

To repeat: Our programmed sailing aboard the William C Daldy on Thursday remains in place.

The activities schedule now comprises:

0930 boarding
1000 Depart for fleet viewing cruise.
1030 Enter Devonport Naval Base (High Tide), quietly turn at entrance to boiler basin, viewing ships berthed with commentary.
View ships in Calliope Basin and outside south wharf.
On completion, depart and cruise to Motuihe Island.
Lunch will be served in the lee of the Island, off the old HMNZS Tamaki camp.
After lunch, depart for city wharves and cruise the working part of POAL and then view all the visiting ships berthed Auckland side.
On completion, pass Wynyard Quarter and head to the Harbour Bridge where ‘Splice the mainbrace’ may be called.
1500 ETR – berth Hobson wharf and disembark.

This will be a time to renew old acquaintances and friendships, and enjoy a convivial day on the harbour.  These events have come about beyond our control. But ‘Jack’ being Jack we will make the most of it and have a great day.

The remaining Old Salts sailings scheduled for Friday, the Cocktail Cruise, the Fleet Official Review on Saturday, and the public sailings on Sunday remain the same.

Don’t be adrift.
