    Actually, his name was Robin. His mother was enough of a rebel to not use Robert, but not brave enough to name him something else.

    Agree Tug. I relieved Bob in Naval Staff in 1982 as ADNS1 (under Mike Franklin). I don’t recall ever seeing him agen.unfortunately. I suspect he may have taken leave and discharge from Wakefield. I always remember Bob Hill as the instigator of the ill-fated VEGA signal projector. Whilst it had its brilliant features, its dispersion arc was limited unlike the old “10 inch ” as those buntings who were on Canterbury during its trial phase will agree. Thus it was “parked up” and finally disposed “unsuitable” a couple of years later. RIP Bob
