Live fire from ships and aircraft have sunk the decommissioned USS Thach (FFG 43) 55 nautical miles north of Kauai.

This training is important for weapons development, ship survivability testing and fleet combat training to test new tactics …as well as to build interoperability with allies and partners. SINKEX events enhance combat readiness by providing realistic training that can’t be duplicated in simulators.
