I simply refuse to make comment on the signalman’s signalling technique. (said very respectively). Brownie

  5. Judy Collie says:

    Kathy Kirkwood (?)

  6. Gail says:

The signal wren is Kathy Kirkwood. I was posted to the tower for a short time (flags only)

  7. Bill says:

She was a signal wren 60s/70s. Cant be sure but her first name was Cathie. Could been younger sister of Carmen Kirkwood. She was boyfriend of the young bunting tower watchkeeper. (Name eludes me) That’s how the pic depicts her as a tower watchkeeper

  8. Janice Stobie nee Miles says:

yup tis Kathy Kirkwood, recognised her straight away, and yes, she is the younger sister of Carmen and double yes its a publicity stunt. what a boring task that was!!

  9. Brian Rowe says:

just talking to my wife ann(Wren leabourne then ) she said Kathy Kirkwood was in her intake and that is not her and didnt do any time in the tower. Actually I met Ann for the first time when she was on watch one time in the tower where I also did some time and we were married some time after that.

    • Judy Collie says:

Sorry Brian I would dispute that, it is Kathy Kirkwood, and she did do time in the tower – so to speak

  10. Brian Rowe says:

the wrens job..was to raise and lower the flag morning and night and log shipping traffic and do watches in the pcc doing office work they didnt do any ;10 inch signal light work
