New Chief of Navy Announced

CDRE John Martin has been selected as the next Chief of Navy. He will take over on 30 November from RADM Jack Steer, who is retiring. CDRE Martin joined the Royal NZ Navy in 1979 as a radar plotter and has had a wide variety of roles, including command of HMNZS TE KAHA from 2001 until August 2003. He is at present Assistant Chief Capability for the NZ Defence Force and prior to that he was Maritime Component Commander.

    Well done John and congratulations on joining a unique group of Ordinary Seamen who rose to the top started by Sir Peter Phipps. Your late father would have been extremely proud of you.
