Here are some branch badges which need further clarification.  See how you go?

Answer = Top left – PO RN Shore Signal Service
Top right – Signalman RN Shore Signal Service
Bottom left – Telegraphist 2nd Class – CPO or PO
Bottom right – Telegraphist Shore Wireless Service

    Question 11
    At a guess , The bunting with the crown Senior semaphore specialist , without the crown ?semaphore specialist. The Sparker one Senior wireless specialist ?

    Methinks the SSS could be Shore Signal Service, and SWS Shore Wireless Service.
    From memory,this Service was started by the Admiralty after the War with ex Buntings
    and Sparkers as civilians in Shore stations, mainly in places like Gib, Malta, Aden Trinco
    Bermuda, Simonstown,Singers and Honkers as a temporary measure to help meet the
    shortage of Serving personne
    l
    Could be wrong again……..

    That is nearly 70 years ago…. This memory recall caper is driving me round the bend .

    The Buntings Badges signify Ship/Shore/Signals….?????
    The Sparkers badges Shore wireless station

    Hi badges – Buntings badge with Crown and Three S’s indicated a P.O or Yeoman Shore Signal Service. Plain Bunting Badge = Shore Signal Service. Sparkers Badge with Crown indicated SQ
    Rig 1st Yr. Sparkers Badge with S.W.S. was Shore Wireless Service.. changed in the 50’s in UK
    I believe . This came of the UK BADGE website.

    From my search I believe that these badges represent the SHORE SIGNAL SERVICE from 1925 and not known when deleted. The other maybe SHORE WIRELESS SERVICE.
