Welcome
This website has been designed to enable ex and serving Communications Branch Personnel of the Royal New Zealand Navy to maintain contact with fellow Communicators and to advise members of items of interest as they arise.
We would especially invite serving members of the Communictions Branch to come and visit the site and to access the knowledge of the retired members in any communications projects which they may be assigned. Remember there is years of experience available on tap and all you have to do is ask.
We hope you enjoy your visit and if you have something to add then please don't hesitate to contact us.

Brownie is evident in all three pics.
Top – left to right – Dan Warrington, Brownie, ????, Marty Evans and TK Maru
Middle – Brownie 2nd from right
Bottom – The one in the middle facing to the right is Rex Mason with Brownie standing to the right of him.
Top Image – The missing chap in the first picture is Wayne McClelland.
Bottom Image – Is that Harvie Graham 2nd from left sitting?
Bottom pic – Just remembered who the person on the extreme left is – Bill Pene – was a diver and I think you’re right about Harvie Graham. Rex Mason was known as “Choppers” Mason because he had false teeth and at such a young age!
Bottom pic 2nd from left Ken McCann?
Mike, Ken would have to be at least a PO going by the ages of those in the pic. This lot joined well after Ken. I agree with Frank – Harvie Graham.
Middle pic – to the left of Brownie (our left) could be Steve Mowbray.
Bottom Pic — L/R. Bill Pene , Harvey Graham, Rex Mason, also known as Makiki, as that was the little village on SH1 in mid Canterbury that he came from. He is now living in the States.
He owned a Mk1 convertable Ford, that was used for many memorable trips, “around the
Mountain” ( and often well beyond ) from Iriringi in the early 70′s.
such great memories with Gus McCann and Makiki.
Bottom pic. Choppers parents owned the pub. Some good runs had out of there I recall. Correct on the three you have named – two of the three on the otherside of the table were ours as well. The other is well known.
Middle – Jim – not Steve. A sparker same name as a couple of others.
Yep, it is Bill Peni, me, Blue Hirst, Choppers, Brownie, Russell (I’ll hock my watch) Perry. Can remember the run too – it was in the Sapporo Brewery Beer Garden – 1972 Japan (Taranaki crew)
Middle pic left could be a young Takiari and on the right a signalman by the name of Potter I think who had an older brother as a chef
Middle pic left is John Roach as seaman from memory John may have been an RP
Brownie dosent get any better looking in any of the piccys and Marty Evans hair colour is certainly a different colour now.
Tom (Tiny) Johnson
Robin Allan second from left in the middle picture
